Velvet And Sparkles

This Thursday we have something different. If you are a girl, you must have at least once visited your local tailor to help design that perfect kurti, salwar-kameez or lehenga. I have been doing this since middle grade. While usually, they are ethnic clothes or saree blouses, today we talk two original #LBTCDesigns.

Sequin Jacket

A couple of years back, I had to attend a friend’s engagement. I was performing salsa with his brother so my outfit was a pretty black lace dress. So to make the outfit pop and wedding friendly, I decided to get a custom sequin jacket designed for the occasion.

The jacket is cropped with a zipper at the front, though it looks best with the zipper closed.

Green Velvet Top

I never thought velvet would be my fabric of choice for any clothing item. Velvet can look regal with little to no effort and that makes the fabric stand out amongst its peers. The vision was to use the fabric to create a stunning top that can be styled with jeans and yet look classy.

The top is designed in kaftan like style with full sleeve arm. Though my idea to have lace was botched with a golden goat (which needs to be swapped soon), I still love how the top turned out. The best part of the top is certainly the fact that it can be worn with jeans or styled as a blouse for a lehenga or saree as well.

Well, those were two of the LBTC designs. We’ve done loads of day to day redesigns but this was our first attempt at fashion. Did you like them? What is the best design you’ve ideated with your tailor? Let us know in the comments below. Comment, share and don’t forget to spread the love!

Until later,
