LBTC Faves: Top 10 Books & Series

Hola people!

Today we took my first love – books! I was introduced to books and the world of pastime reading as a child by my father. The first time I remember picking up a book is in class 4. And then what hooked me on books, reading and the fantasy fiction realm was the Harry Potter series. I grew up with the series, reading “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” when I was merely 10. Apart from the literary excellence, this is the other reason that I am a big Potterhead. Moving on to today’s topic. Today, we talk my top 10 books/ series that I have loved reading (and mostly have spent reading all nights!) excluding Harry Potter of course.

The Book Thief – Markus Zusak

I’m sure you must’ve heard brilliant things about the book already. I was in tears and smiling because of this book. The way Leslie grows up in front of our own eyes. You can find my complete review here.

Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn

Another brilliant book with a brilliant plot. I did not understand why people were disappointed with the ending and the gray characters. Not only does it make the story more believable but more exciting as well. It was also the first book review I did.

The Raven Cycle – Maggie Stiefvater

Wow! I finished this series in flat 5 days. All four books. I just couldn’t put it down. Stories of the impossible realm with dream thieves, ghost friends, and psychics! Eeeee! An impossible world to make you smile and cry equally.

The Kite Runner – Khaled Hosseini

Aaah! It makes you weep! Not just shedding a few tears of sadness but weep like a little kid. The author is an expert in Afghan life and the stark difference makes your heart wince and hurt. All of Khaled Hosseini books are on my Must Read books of all times. They are not repetitive and each is vastly different from the other.

The Kingkiller Chronicles – Patrick Rothfuss

Another magical world and another magical journey. The MOST irritating problem about this series is that it’s been 5 years since the last book and the author has shown no intention to release the next in line.

If you could see me now – Cecelia Ahern

Aah! The only “love story” in the list. It is different from your usual run off the mill romantic novels. And I completely identify with the female lead and loved how she is brought out of her cocoon little by little.

The Lunar Chronicles – Marissa Meyer

A futuristic story with people residing on the Moon and Earth. The best part is that the stories are written as spin-offs of the famous fairytales we all have heard and loved – Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood. Loved the concept, loved the execution.

The Da Vinci Code – Dan Brown

If you have read any Dan Brown book, I would not suggest picking this up because the storyline of most of the Dan Brown books is similar, but the thrill of reading the first book is absolutely exhilarating. And the way the architecture, history, and myths are described in his books are incomparable. Pick this one or “Angels and Demons” up if you haven’t already.

Adulthood Is A Myth – Sarah Andersen

It is not your daily novel or series, it is a comic web series and it is an absolute delight to read. The same problems everyone faces in a comic form is a great reminder of how similar we are and how we ALL are in this together.

Illuminae – Amie Kaufman

While the story is pretty much the same as any Young Adult book, the story telling is brilliant and you can find our complete review of the design can be found here.

Have you ever read any of these books? Or are you planning on reading any of them? Let us know in the comments below. Also, don’t forget to comment, share and spread the love!

Until later,

Vani
